Performance Work
As a classical violinist, Helen has worked with conductors Sir Charles Mackerras, Diego Masson, Miles Golding and Edward Gardner. She has also had coaching from Ofer Falk and Michael Bochmann and played in masterclasses with Pieter Schoeman and the Wihan Quartet. In London, Helen was a member of The Benzaiten Ensemble, a dynamic string quartet playing recitals, workshops, weddings and functions, as well as regular live and studio session work.
Helen currently plays with Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Hopkins Sinfonia and is working with newly formed Baroque ensemble Progetto Corelli. She is also working on a new collaborative project, working with composers in Australia and the UK to create new works for violin and loop station. If you would like to book Helen or Progetto Corelli for a performance, please use the Contact Form.
Alongside her classical work, Helen can often be found on stage with a band or in the recording studio. Before leaving London she worked as violinist and backing vocalist for The Fanclub, a London-based rock band signed to Underdogs Music. Previous work included recordings, live shows and UK festival performances for The Silent League and Mishaped Pearls, as well as writing, recording and performing with electronic band Ocarina. Helen has also recorded at Abbey Road for Children In Need and 1916 The Musical.

Teaching
As an experienced violin teacher, Helen is happy to work with individuals or small groups of all ages and standards. After working as a peripatetic teacher in schools for the last three years she was in London, Helen completed ABRSM Music Medals training and led her students successfully through many ABRSM exams. Helen currently teaches at Soundworks Music Studio.
Helen also has experience in workshop leading and assisting and her strong belief in the ability of music (and other art forms) to help promote social change and community cohesion led her to volunteer with the arts charity Escape Artists, on the workshop-based project The Rapper’s Opera in 2008-2009. Helen has also previously worked in arts administration and stage management for the Electric Voice Theatre, Frances M Lynch and the Complete Singer summer course.
