Hello! Welcome to my new blog and also to my new project, Through the Looping Glass.
Those of you who have met me will know that I love being involved with collaborative projects and that led me to produce In the Loop and REACT. But they were a few years ago and moving across the world and setting up a new life in Melbourne has meant some time off from collaborations. Until now!
So, I would like to introduce my new project - Through the Looping Glass, an exploration of music for electro-acoustic violin and loop station. The project will see me working with composers from Melbourne, Sydney and London to produce new works for violin and loop station and performing them in a show during the Melbourne Fringe Festival in October. The performance will showcase the works created and include a Q+A session for audience members to gain a better understanding of the music and the process of the project. Through the Looping Glass will be produced by myself and co-producer Stuart Dow.
This blog will document all aspects of the project's journey: the highs, the lows, the lessons learned. And first up will be a trip to Sydney this weekend (whoop!) to work with fantastic young composer Grace Huie Robbins. Stay tuned...
